The Fairfield Road pitch was in remarkably good order when so many games had been postponed, with no evidence of the heavy rain of the last 48 hours. Hertford put the game beyond the home side with three goals in the opening 22 minutes, but it was United who had the first clear cut chance on 11 minutes. Luke Lincoln found himself clear and it looked like a certain goal, until Pablo Ardiles blocked the ball just in front of goal. New Hungarian striker Attila Korsoveczki was again leading the line brilliantly, much to the vocal delight of the travelling Hertford fans. The opening goal came from an unexpected source though, a minute after Lincoln's chance. Korsoveczki made the goal buy lifting the ball into the goalmouth, and MATT MCARDLE, deputising for Dave Hunt, popped up to place a looping header over home keeper Lawrence.
It was 2-0 to The Blues on 15 minutes when Lee Roberts latched on to a fine diagonal pass from Ryan Wade, beat Michael Scarisbrook and crossed into the goalmouth. Korsovczki was all set to score but home defender LUKE JONES got in front of him and powered an unstoppable header past his own keeper.
Korsoveczki got in a cross from an acute angle on the right, but the ball was deflected for a corner, When this was floated over by Lee Roberts, on 22 minutes, KORSVECZKI was unmarked at the near post to score with a delicate back-header into the net.
It was already game, set and match to the visitors with only a quarter of the game played, but the plucky home side did not throw in the towel. Their main threat came from Luke Lincoln, and his deflected shot on 26 minutes might have wrong footed Mark Virgo, but he made a good catch high over his head.
Lee Roberts again beat Michael Scarisbrook and whipped over a centre. Although it found its way to the far post, Kevin Cooper was stretching to get to it, and unable to make firm contact. Then Attila Korsoveczki played a lay back to Cooper, but the top scorer's ground shot was a yard the wrong side of the post. Biggleswade had to replace the injured Luke Jones, and Martin Russell dropped into the back line to allow substitute Leon Simpson to slot into midfield. At about 6'7" Simpson towered over everyone on the field. Then, on 42 minutes, Attila Korsoveczki hit a scorching volley from a Lee Roberts cross which looked every inch a goal, but Adam Lawrence pulled off a breathtaking flying save to deny the Hungarian his second of the match.
Half Time: Biggleswade United 0 Hertford Town 5
United competed much better in the second period, but rarely looked like making any inroads into the Hertford defence. Sean Murray was on target on 51 minutes, but Nicky Marsh blocked the ball to safety. Moments later, Marsh made a long run down the right before winning a corner. From this, defender Sean Crossley headed narrowly wide. Ross Collins broke clear and crossed to Korsoveczki, whose goalbound shot was deflected for a corner. Sean Murray again went close for United before the home side made two substitutions - Dan Gaskin for Murray and Adam Turner for Ben Stocker.
Hertford were frustrated at not scoring for over an hour and Matt Watts came on for Ross Collins and Joel Maybury for Pablo Ardiles, to complete a back line of centre-halves. It appeared that The Blues would have to settle for 3-0 when, on 90 minutes, Kevin Cooper controlled a long kick downfield from Mark Virgo and found Attila Korsoveczki, who laid the ball on a plate for RYAN WADE to stroke home for 4-0
As the home side finally capitulated Hertford won two late corners. From the second of these, taken by Nicky Marsh, United's defenders stood and watched as MATT WATTS used all of his 6'4" to rise and power home a header for a final score of 5-0
Final Score: Biggleswade United 0 Hertford Town 5
