Pablo Ardiles. Subs Used: 12. Lee Roberts (for Marsh, 85), 14. Matt Watts (for Lancaster, 60), 16. Jamie Abbott (for Goss, 75).
Broxbourne Borough: 1. Michael Kalli, 2. Gary Taylor (Capt), 3. Rob Kemble, 4. Michael Noble, 5. Carloc Asali, 6. Gazmend Dauti, 7. Bradley Drisdale, 8. Junior Langsbury, 9. Danny Ward, 10. Daryl Mitchell, 11. Tony Burke. Subs Used: 12. Paul Dodd (for Ward, 83).

There were not quite so many players appearing against their old clubs in this one; Hertford had Ryan Wade and Borough had Gazmend Dauti and Daryl Mitchell, with sub Paul Dodd making a late appearance.
With the goalkeeper jinx having struck again when Lee Robinson became the fourth Hertford Town 'keepr to be injured this season, Tony Tilbrook was again called into action. When Hertford won an early free kick level with the 18 yard line, Kevin Kilroy's kick found Glenn Draper, but his looping header flew just over the bar. Then at the other end, an apparently safe header back by Draper bounced too high for Tony Tilbrook and Tony Burke nearly managed to head over him into the net. Hertford mounted another attack and Phil Goss's high punt into the box was caught safely by Michael Kalli in the visitors' goal. Hertford won an 8th minute corner when defender Noble skied a Pablo Ardiles cross high in the air. Kalli dropped Goss's corner kick but a startled Glenn Draper could only lob the ball wide.
Lively little right winger Bradley Drisdale was looking like he would cause trouble, and when he burst through the middle in the tenth minute, his surge eventually led to the opening goal. Although Drisdale's shot was blocked, the ball eventually came out to GAZMEND DAUTI for the ex Blue to rifle home a fine bending shot from the corner of the box, giving Tony Tilbrook no chance. Although Hertford tried to hit back quickly, the visitors were packing their defence, with ex Blue Daryl Mitchell in particular playing just in front of his back four. Broxbourne waited patiently for a further opportunity, and it came on 26 minutes when Drisdale forced a fine save from Tilbrook after cutting inside and skipping past several defenders. Ryan Wade fed a good ball through to Ryan Redford but Kalli saved the striker's shot. Then Daryl Mitchell was back to kick a Kevin Kilroy free kick off the line to preserve the visitors' lead.
Louis Lancaster tried a long range shot and it was too hot for Michael Kalli to hold, resulting in a corner for Hertford. Two more corners were won in the minutes before half time, but Broxbourne held firm.

Half Time: Hertford Town 0 Broxbourne Borough 1

The game had not been outstandingly good in the first half and continued similarly in the second, with Broxbourne content to stifle the home side's attacks and look for quick breaks in order to get a second goal. Ryan Redford, unable to find space in the middle tried his luck down the left wing, and did really well to whip over a cross. Unfortunately, Kevin Cooper was unable to get anything on the ball and it flashed across the goal to safety. Hertford then switched to 3-5-2 formation on the hour, with Matt Watts coming on for Louis Lancaster. Broxbourne's Junior Langsbury had a chance on 63 minutes but shot tamely at Tony Tilbrook, then the change in formation paid off when the home side drew level. Gary Taylor fouled Ryan Wade out on the left, and when the free kick reached the goalmouth, three Hertford players converged on the ball, and although it looked like one of them headed home, it was in fact Borough defender Michael Noble who headed into his own net.
Broxbourne hit back straight away and Tilbrook did well to beat away a Danny ward header with his legs. Then Kevin Kilroy came very close with a 30 yard free kick which, although dipping, just cleared the crossbar. Pablo Ardiles wipped over across from the left and, although Phil Goss got his head to the ball, he was unable to turn it goalwards. With 15 minutes to go, Jamie Abbott was introduced in place of Goss, and Broxbourne sent on ex Blue Paul Dodd at the expense of Danny Ward.
Lee Roberts made abelated entrance to the game on 85 minutes and added some width to the attack. Hertford won a couple of late corners. From the first Kevin Cooper headed wide and then Matt MCardle looked to have won the game with a near post header, but the ball flashed agonisingly wide of the upright. There was still time for a scare at the other end though, as the speedy Drisdale nearly stole the points for the visitors with a shot which went close.

Final Score: Hertford Town 1 Broxbourne Borough V&E 1
