The persistent rumours that Chairman Mick Clarke was calling it a day after just one year at the helm proved to be correct, as he tendered his resignation at last week's committee meeting. Mick cited pressure of work as his reason, and expressed the wish to remain as a sponsor of the Club.
Mick has been associated with Hertford Town for several seasons as a sponsor, the team wearing his logo since 2005/06.

It is never a good time for a chairman to leave, but the end of a season is probably the worst! It might seem like a job done to the person departing, but in fact it leaves a club in a vacuum just at a time when players are looking to decide where to play next season, and leads to other clubs trying to tempt them away.
This is the third time that I have been left "holding the keys", but I am not the man to take on the job permanently. On the one occasion that I did, we had our worst season in years! So, is there someone out there with serious pocket money who would like to experience the roller coaster ride of running a non-league football club?
