TUESDAY 8 AUGUST 2006 - HERTFORD TOWN 0 CHESHUNT 2

Hertford Town: 1. Mark Virgo; 2. Nicky Marsh, 3. Tom Neill, 4. Matt Watts, 5. Jamie Nicholson, 6. Adrian Robinson, 7. Scott Neilson, 8. Leo Turner, 9. Ryan Redford, 10. Kevin Cooper, 11. Pablo Ardiles. Halftime Subs: Ashley McAloon (for Marsh), H (for Matt Watts), Dan Culwick (for Jamie Nicholson), Paul Dodds (for Redford), Alex Scriven (for Scott Neilson). Other sub used: James Sturgeon (for Mark Virgo)
Southern League Premier side Cheshunt started strongly and scored after 5 minutes when Dewayne Clarke headed home unchallenged from a corner. Not long after, Michael Deane nipped in to make it 2-0 after Cheshunt had smuggled the ball back off the home defence when they looked to have safely stemmed an attack. Hertford improved in the second half and Alex Scriven squandered what was probably the best opportunity to get a goal back when he fired narrowly wide from an excellant position. Adrian Robinson, Leo Turner and Pablo Ardiles battled throughout and Mark Virgo made some excellant saves, including a breathtaking close range double block. A good workout for Hertford ahead of Saturday's Herts Charity Cup tie at home to Hemel Hempstead Town - who play in the same league as Cheshunt
