HERTFORD defied torrential downpours to take a point from their opening match of the league season and could have taken all three. The heavy rain did not dampen the spirits of the players or the vocal supporters desperate for sporting success after such a poor summer of football. Were it not for a few chances that got stuck in the Hertingfordbury Park mud, Scott O’Donoghue’s men could have started with a win. The first chance of the campaign fell for Attila Korsoveczki as a loose ball cannoned across to him just outside the box, but his long shot bounced just wide of the left post. He curled a strike wide on eigth minutes and blasted an effort past the upright before an Owen Beale free-kick forced Langford keep Grant Beckwith into a flying save.
From the resulting corner the visitors broke and a quick passing move ended with James Peters curling an effort that Robinson could only watch drift onto his crossbar and over.
Hertford did not heed the warning and Langford took the lead when Ryan Nicholl’s cross from the right was nodded home by the unchallenged JAMES PETERS.
Hertford's best chance of the half came on 42 minuets when a mis-hit shot by Korsoveczki ran across the six yard box to the unmarked Matt McArdle, but the ball got caught under the midfielder's feet as he was about to pull the trigger.
There were calls for a red card after Musafiri was blocked off while chasing a bouncing ball over the top by Jamie Taylor, who appeared to be the last man, but a yellow was flashed and Tom Neil blasted the resulting free-kick over the bar.

Five minutes into the second half, Robinson did well to hold a close range Moulton shot after a scramble from a corner. The Blues levelled on 53 minutes when ATTILA KORSOVECZKI took advantage of a breakdown in communication in the Langford backline to poke a through ball past the keeper. Moments later Waite could have regained the visitors' lead, but he blasted over from six yards when it was easier to score. The game became scrappy as players tired on the sodden grass.
The next chance didn't come until the 74th minute when McArdle's deflected shot was held by the diving keeper and Korsoveczki shot over moments later. Robinson turned around a Waite shot at the other end as the action finally began to hot up.
Hertford could have taken the lead on 81 minutes when Beale drove a ball across the face of goal, but Korsoveckzi, coming in at pace, could only smack it into the side-netting with the goal gaping.
Despite late pressure from the Blues in the final minutes, with big shouts for a handball on the Langford goal-line after a scramble, they had to settle for a point.
