Hertford Town defender Pablo Ardiles and a group of pupils from Chauncy School in Ware, working hard to help tidy up Hertingfordbury Park ahead of the new season. The group were out as part of Chauncy Citizenship in the Community Day. The pupils basically go out and do various work and events for the local community such as helping clean up and paint local schools, churches, the football club, etc. or put on events and workshops for the local primary schools. Hertford Town FC is really grateful to the lads (and Mr Ardiles) for the energetic way in which they carried out their task - they were a credit to their school and to themselves. 27 June 2008 ![]() I discovered from coach Dave Steedman yesterday that Attila had had to go home to return to his job in Hungary. This morning I received this email! "Dear Bob Brown, My name is Attila Korsoveczki ( The Hungarian ). Just a quick mail to say thank you to the Hertford Town FC because they got me opportunity me to play in this team in the last season. I have to go back to my country Hungary so, I won't be able to play in the next season in the team. I have got some memories from the last season so I was very happy that I could play in this team, I have met much good players and I'm sure that the next season will be more succesfully. I wish the team everything good and lots of victories. I think I return to play in a Hungarian team and I'm going to tell just good things about Hertford Town FC. Thank you again, Kind Regards, Attila Korsoveczki On behalf of the fans at Hertford Town, thank YOU, Attila, and good luck! 30 April 2008 WE'VE LOST ANOTHER CHAIRMAN!- MORE13 April 2008 CAN COOPS GET THE RECORD THIS SEASON?- MORE13 April 2008 RESERVES GET THEIR TITLEBilly's boys won their league title in style with a fine 3-1 victory at long time rivals Oxhey Jets on Saturday 5 April. This meant that Cockfosters, the only team able to equal their points total no longer could. This is the club's first title success since winning the Delphian League in 1961/62, and fittingly come in our Centenery Season. The lads will get their hands on the trophy, and receive theri medals, after the game against Cockfosters on Wednesday next (16th April). 19 March 2008 RESERVES WILL WIN CLUB'S FIRST TITLE IN 47 YEARSBilly O'Driscoll and his boys were celebrating tonight without playing, as their main rivals for the title went down 3-0 at Tring Athletic. This leaves Hertford 12 points clear of Cockfosters and Oxey Jets, who can each only get 12 more points, including games against Hertford. With a massive goal difference advantage over both, the title is all but Hertford's now. It will be theirs for certain next Wednesday if Cockfosters fail to beat them at Hertingfordbury Park,15 March 2008 LEE CLOCKS UP 200 GAMES Lee Roberts played his 200th first team game for Hertford Town in the recent East Anglian Cup game at Stansted. Lee is the club's longest serving player in a single spell, joining as an 18 year old from Hoddesdon Town U18's. Apart from a very brief time at Braintree Town at the start of his career, the loyal Roberts has spent his whole senior career so far at Hertingfordbury Park. Lee is an out and out left winger who has scored almost 40 goals in his 200 appearances. He has twice won the coveted "Supporters Player of the Year", a recognition from the fans which is much appreciated by the player. Lee was presented with his award before the home game with Colney Heath, on Saturday 15 March 2008 by committee man Tony Parrot, and then celebrated by scoring a fine goal in a 3-0 win! 13 March 2008 REDFORD IN SHOCK MOVE TO WARE
Ryan Redford has moved to near neighbours Ware in a shock move (Thursday). The striker recently had his contract cancelled by mutual consent, so that he could be permitted to play Sunday football. He has found the temptation to join highly successful Ware irresistible however. The club had prevously had "7 day approaches" from Hitchin Town, Cheshunt and Biggleswade Town. Redford scored 91 goals in 112 full and 11 substitute appearances, including a remarkable 55 in a season in 2006/7, in a lethal partnership with Kevin Cooper. This season has not been so good for Ryan, who has found goalscoring extremely difficult in recent months, but nevertheless he has 26 goals for the season so far in all competitions. The club retains his Spartan South Midlands League registration.
9 March 2008 DATE FIXED FOR WARE GAMEThe much delayed Semi Final of the Herts Charity Cup between Ware and Hertford Town will take place at Wodson Park on Tuesday 1 April, k.o. 7.45pm.British Gas Southern Premier Division strugglers Cheshunt await the winners in the final at the County Cround, Letchworth. 8 March 2008 IAN COOPER MOVES TO HEMEL
Ian Cooper's stay at Hertingfordbury Park turned out to be a brief one, as Kevin's younger brother moved on to British Gas Premier Division side Hemel Hempstead Town during the week. He made an immediate impact, scoring the winner as The Tudors won 2-1 at Rugby Town on Saturday. Ian made it clear when he signed recently that he was looking for a club at a higher level, and it came as no surprise when Hemel came in for him.

Goalkeeper Mark Virgo, close to making his 100th first team appearance, received the shock news yesterday (25th Sept) that he must have an operation on his ankle and not play in the meantime. Mark injured his ankle ligaments in the game against Harefeld United at the end of last season and took most of the close season to recover. He has played through pain this season, but under advice from his physio, he had a scan on the ankle. Expecting to be told that things were progressing well, he was shocked to hear that if he continued to play there was a very high chance tht he would snap the injured ligaments. We hope that the operation goes well, and, knowing Mark, he'll be back in action before too long! There's better news about Coops.... Striker Kevin Cooper, who had to leave the field early in the game at Harefield last Saturday (22nd Sept) with a hamstring problem, has been told that he may be fit again in a couple of weeks. An irreplaceable member of the team, Coops has been playing superbly and leads the goalscoring chart with 13 strikes this season already. Apparently he has been told (by his team-mates) that he can't have a hamstring injury as only fast players get those!
NORWEGIAN INVASION!
JOEL SWITCHES TO V&E![]() Long serving defender JOEL MAYBURY has moved to Broxbourne Borough V&E in search of regular first team football. Still only in his early 20's, Joel made over 100 appearances for the Blues before suffering a double fracture of his left leg in the final game of the 2004/5 season at Dorking. On recovery, Joel then suffered a troublesome injury known as Gilmore's Groin, which severely restricted his first team appearances. The perfect clubman, Joel still attended all games and helped out in the reserves when able. He was Club Captain for the past two seasons, and will be sorely missed around the Club. We wish Cheshunt based Joel every success at his new club, except when playing against us of course! Other players leaving the club in the close season have been defenders Ashley McAloon and Michael Bakare, and midfielders Mark Seller and Luke Smith. 2007-08 CUP DRAWSHERTS SENIOR CUP - Round 1 HERTFORD TOWN v SAWBRIDGEWORTH TOWNHERTS INTERMEDIATE CUP - Round 1 HERTFORD TOWN RES v ST MARGARETSBURY RES HERTS CHARITY CUP - Semi-Final WARE v HERTFORD TOWN FA CUP - Extra Prelim Rd HERTFORD TOWN v COGENHOE FA VASE - Exempt to 1st Round Proper SOUTH MIDLANDS FLOODLIGHT CUP - HERTFORD TOWN v AMPTHILL TOWN SSMFL CHALLENGE TROPHY - 1st Round HERTFORD TOWN v WINSLOW UNITED SSMFL PREINER DIV CUP -1st Round HERTFORD TOWN v HAREFIELD UNITED EAST ANGLIAN CUP - HERTFORD TOWN v HODDESDON TOWN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE AGMThe AGM was held on Saturday 16 June at Caddington FC. As expected, the Premier Division was increased to its full 22 club level, with relegated clubs Beaconsfield SYCOB and Hanwell Town rejoining from Step 4, and Brimsdown Rovers and Cockfosters being promoted at the expense of Haringey Borough and Royston Town. Edgware Town have been promoted to Step 4.Not everyone was thrilled to hear that Bedford Town Reserves and Cheshunt Reserves had been accepted in Division One, under an FA Ruling that clubs at Step 3 and above could place their reserves in Step 7 (such as SSMFL Division One). It was confirmed at the meeting that these two clubs could not be promoted from Division One should they finish in the top two places, and also that the third and fourth placed clubs could. New club Sport London e Benfica were promoted from as Middlesex League Champions to Division One. PLAYERS START BACK EARLYThe playing staff returned early in preparation for the coming season when they got together on Saturday 16th June for their first session.Good news for Blues fans is that almost all of the lads have pledged their allegiance to mnaager Dave Greenwood, who will be assisted during the coming season by respected former manager Dave Pentecost. The only member of last season's first team squad to say that he is definitely not returning is long serving Leo Turner, who has told Dave Greenwood that he is giving up the game. Leo lives in London and has found it difficult to commit himself to training etc. We'll see! MICK CLARK BECOMES CHAIRMANMick Clark has returned to the Club as Chairman after Mark Bohm stepped down unexpectedly towards the end of last season.
