TUESDAY 25 MARCH 2008 - SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE - PREMIER DIVISION
HERTFORD TOWN 2 OXHEY JETS 0

Hertford kept up their run of better form with an easy win against an Oxhey Jets side still missing key players through injury. It was top scorer Kevin Cooper who got the goals this time, edging him ever closer to that all-time club goalscoring record.
Hertford Town: 1. Mark Virgo, 2. Nicky Marsh, 3. Pablo Ardiles, 4. Sean Crossley, 5, Matt Watts, 6. Ryan Wade, 7. Matt McArdle, 8. Ross Collins, 9. Attila Korsoveczki, 10. Kevin Cooper (capt), 11. Lee Roberts. No subs used.
Oxhey Jets: 1. Steve Duce, 2. Steve Brown, 3. Michael Wyatt, 4. Marc Ayres (capt), 5. Ian Bywater, 6. Lee Grace, 7. Luke Lloyd, 8. Warren Gladdy, 9. Paul Danslow, 10. Tim O'Mara, 11. Sam Warrell. Subs Used: 12. Dave Maynard (for Brown, 85), 14. Chris Killer (for Danslow, 75), 15. Steve Noonan (for Warrell, 90)

Oxhey won an early corner but could make nothing of it, then Hertford gradually got into their stride. A slick move involving Lee Roberts and Ross Collins led to Kevin Cooper getting in a shot which Jets keeper Steve Duce saved well. Jets' Michael Wyatt was booked for a foul on Cooper on 13 minutes, but The Blues were unable to benefit from the free kick.Sean Crossley came close to opening the scoring on 17 minutes, when his goalbound header from a corner was deflected over the bar.
KEVIN COOPER put his side ahead on 20 minutes with diving header, from a right wing cross by Ross Collins. Six minutes later, it was 2-0 a the home side were awarded a penalty. After Jets had just survived a penalty shout, Ross Collins tried to cross the ball from the goal-line and it struck a defender's hand. KEVIN COOPER made no mistake from 12 yards to record his 38th goal of the season.
Oxhey tried to hit back and won a couple of corners without reward. Ross Collins got in another good cross which was deflected for a corner, then he provided Attila Korsoveczki with a chance which the No.9 put just wide. Warren Gladdy was booked for Oxhey on 35 minutes for a foul, and then a Lee Roberts rocket from 20 yards fizzed over the bar.
On 40 minutes, Sam Warrell brought a fine stop from Mark Virgo with a great strike from 15 yards.

Half Time: Hertford Town 2 Oxhey Jets 0

Oxhey stepped up their game in the second period, but the best chances still fell to Hertford. Keeper Duce made another good save to prevent Cooper registering his hat-trick, them Mark Virgo kept out a good effort from Jets' Paul Danslow. On 70 minutes, Tim O'Mara brought another save from Virgo, who conceded a corner in doing so. Hertford's solid rearguard was not going to let another clean sheet go though, and although both Pablo Ardiles (dissent), and Nicky Marsh (foul) were booked, it was another competent performance and three points for the Blues, who cemented their 4th place in doing so. Unusually, although havin gfive subs available, manager Greenwood made no changes at all.

Final Score: Hertford Town 2 Oxhey Jets 0
