Another competitive match and another chance for Hertford to shower before, during and after the match. The Blues travelled 21miles in high spirits after the demolition of Takeley in the FA Cup but this was a night everyone will want to forget.
A goal 10mins in from Royston's Luke Robins gave Hertford early jitters but was cancelled out when OWEN BEALE tapped in after the keeper fumbled a well taken corner. Royston fought their way back into the match not allowing the Blues many chances, then took thelead when a lapse in concentration allowed Tom Malins to score.

Bad news at half time. Scott O'Donoghue was forced to make a double substitution when Jack Lawrence and Dominic Musafiri picked up knocks, replacing them with himself and Alan Barker. The second half produced a much different response from both team with Royston taking it to the visitors. Within 7 minutes of the restart The Crows extended their lead and again 1 minute later, it was painful to watch. Around the 63 minute mark Scott signalled for Pablo Ardiles to make his entrance but this was very much a case of too little too late as the Blues found it impossible to get back into the game. The referee blew for full time, Royston definitely had something to Crow about.

Scott O'Donoghue in his interview to the Mercury:
“Unfortunately we let ourselves down and gave away two sloppy goals in the first half,” O’Donoghue told the Mercury.
“We lost our shape after that and Royston took full advantage in the second period with two great goals. It was a double whammy, our heads went down and we made it too easy for them.”
“It’s important that we re-group and don’t let this blip affect us too much.”
